Our History
Founded on a vision of mental health equity and compassionate care for all.
The Beginning of Restore Joy
Founded April 4, 2024
Restore Joy was established with a clear and urgent mission: to remove barriers that prevent people from accessing the mental health care they desperately need. Our founders recognized a critical gap in the Hunt County community—too many individuals were struggling with mental health challenges but couldn't afford treatment.
Our Founding Mission
From day one, Restore Joy has been committed to three core objectives:
Raise Awareness
Educate our community about mental health issues, treatment options, and the importance of mental wellness for overall health.
Reduce Stigma
Challenge and change the negative perceptions associated with mental health, creating an environment where seeking help is normalized and supported.
Prevent Suicide
Provide life-saving mental health support and education to prevent suicide and support those in crisis.
Why We Exist
Mental health care shouldn't be a luxury reserved for those who can afford it. Yet across our community and nation, financial barriers prevent countless individuals from accessing the treatment they need. The consequences are devastating:
- People suffer in silence, unable to afford counseling or therapy
- Mental health conditions worsen without treatment
- Families are torn apart by untreated mental illness
- Lives are lost to suicide that could have been prevented
- Stigma keeps people from seeking help even when resources exist
Restore Joy was created to change this reality. We believe that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, deserves access to quality mental health care.
Our Approach
We tackle mental health barriers through a comprehensive, community-centered approach:
Direct Services
We provide financial assistance to help individuals access mental health counseling and therapy through our qualification-based support program. By partnering with licensed clinicians in our Counselor Connection network, we ensure that those who cannot afford care can still receive it.
Education & Awareness
We conduct community seminars, workshops, and speaking engagements to educate the public about mental health. These educational efforts help reduce stigma, increase awareness of warning signs, and connect people with resources.
Community Partnerships
We collaborate with local organizations, healthcare providers, and community groups to create a comprehensive network of support. Together, we're stronger and more effective.
Advocacy
We advocate for mental health equity and work to change systems that create barriers to care. Mental health is health, and it should be treated as such.
Looking Forward
Since our founding in April 2024, we've been building the foundation for lasting change in our community. Our vision is a Hunt County where:
- No one is denied mental health care due to financial constraints
- Mental health is discussed openly without shame or stigma
- Community members know how to recognize warning signs and support each other
- Resources are readily available and accessible to all who need them
- Lives are saved through prevention, education, and timely intervention
We're still a young organization, but our commitment is unwavering. Every day, we're working to make this vision a reality.
