Board Member Responsibilities

As a member of Restore Joy's Board of Directors, you will:

  • Provide Strategic Oversight: Help set organizational direction, goals, and priorities
  • Ensure Financial Health: Review budgets, approve expenditures, and support fundraising efforts
  • Monitor Programs: Ensure services align with our mission and effectively serve community needs
  • Support Fundraising: Participate in development activities and help identify funding opportunities
  • Advocate for the Mission: Serve as an ambassador for Restore Joy in the community
  • Ensure Accountability: Maintain ethical standards and legal compliance
  • Attend Meetings: Participate in quarterly board meetings and serve on at least one committee

Time Commitment

Board members should expect to dedicate approximately:

  • 4 quarterly board meetings per year (2-3 hours each)
  • Committee meetings as needed (frequency varies by committee)
  • 5-10 hours per month for board-related activities, events, and advocacy
  • Term of service: Typically 2-3 years, renewable
